St Margaret’s Church, Paston

St Margaret’s Church, Paston, is a remarkable Grade I listed building with deep historical roots, standing on a known pilgrim’s route. Built in the early to mid-1300s on the site of an earlier church, it embodies a beautiful simplicity that reflects its medieval origins. The church is home to two striking 14th-century wall paintings, that have recently been restored, as well as memorials to the Paston family. Its stained glass, spanning the 19th and 20th centuries, adds to the church’s rich artistic heritage.

St Margaret’s is known for its connection to the Paston family, whose famous 15th-century letters—spanning a thousand pages over 70 years—offer an extraordinary glimpse into daily life during the turbulent Wars of the Roses. As part of the Trunch Group of Parishes within the Norwich Diocese, the church continues to be a place of worship, history, and community.
